July 30, 2018 Crime of the Week

I am Lacey Police Detective Jon Mason on behalf of Crime Stoppers of the South Sound.

Due to the continuing high amount of car prowls right now, especially in area parks, we are repeating last week’s warning.

The Police and Sheriff’s offices would like to remind everyone to stay alert. Vehicle prowls are always a problem, and with the warm weather they always increases. This is due to more people are going to parks, trails, fishing areas, etc., where they leave their vehicles unattended for extended periods of time. Never leave anything in your vehicle, even what seems like something of little value, because it attracts break-ins. This means you will still have the expense of replacing a window or repairing a damaged door lock. Identity theft is a growing problem which is why you should never leave items with your identity in your vehicle.

If you have any information about any crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. You can also download the P3 app to submit your tip from any smartphone. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember, you never have to leave your name.

January 22, 2018 Crime of the Week

I am Lacey Police Detective Jon Mason on behalf of Crime Stoppers of South Sound. Local Police Departments request your help in preventing future Crimes of the Week.

During the cold weather local police departments are once again seeing vehicles left running unattended in driveways to warm up. This is an invitation for theft, and far too many vehicles are stolen this way during the cold months. Instead of doing this, ice scrapers are available to clean the ice from your windshield at many places around the county, and even paying for one is far less expensive than having your vehicle stolen. You may find that your insurance won’t cover the loss if your vehicle was stolen while left running unattended.

If you have any information about this, or any other crime, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. You can also download the P3 app to submit your tip from any smartphone. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember, you never have to leave your name.

A flyer with a picture of the suspect and the vehicle is on the Crime Stoppers web site.
