October 16, 2017 Crime of the Week

The Police and Sheriff’s offices would like to remind everyone that Halloween is approaching. This means that children will be on the streets wearing costumes, thus limiting their ability to see. They will be out after dark. With the excitement of the event there are times they may dash across the street to get to the other side quickly without looking first. Remember to use extra care as you drive through neighborhoods in the evenings. Many of the streets will not have street lights, making it even harder to see the children.

If you have any information about any crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. You can also download the P3 app to submit your tip from any smartphone. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember, you never have to leave your name.

The Police and Sheriff’s offices would like to remind everyone to be aware of who you give personal information to.

There is a lot of forgery and fraud still going on in the area. Be very careful who you give personal or banking information to on the phone. It’s best to call back to the business on a published number to make sure the person is legitimate. There are also door to door solicitors going around stating they are selling home security. Again, if you have any doubts, ask for their credentials and call the business to make sure. Don’t let strangers into your home. If you see anything suspicious, please call immediately and report it so police can check it out.

If you have any information about any crime, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. You can also download the P3 app to submit your tip from any smartphone. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember, you never have to leave your name.

Reporting a crime to Crime Stoppers has become even easier with the new P3 app. This is available from the apps store for IOS and Android. Simply search for Crime Stoppers Mobile App and find the P3 app. Once installed a simple setup is done by entering a PIN you will use for accessing it, then through a menu led process you select your location. Once that is done, simply open the app and select the type of crime you want to report and follow along from there. Just as the phone method, your privacy is assured.

If you have any information on any crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. You can also download the P3 app to submit your tips from any smartphone. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember, you never have to leave your name.

There has been a recent increase in thefts from public storage units. The thieves usually cut the locks off the unit and enter to grab whatever is available. This is not at any one particular locale, it is occurring all over the county. If you have seen anything suspicious at any storage facilities please call Crime Stoppers with the information so we can reduce these thefts.

If you have any information on any crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember you never have to leave your name.

There has been a recent surge in vehicle thefts where the owner has left their vehicle warming in the driveway due to the current cold weather. The thieves see the vehicles running and just take them. These vehicles, when we do find them, have been found in places like Capital Forest, and other outlying areas, and are stripped for parts. A recent stolen vehicle was just recovered in Oregon the same day it was taken. There are a number of organizations handing out ice scrapers, so get one and use that instead of leaving the vehicle warming unattended.

If you have any information on any crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember you never have to leave your name.
