I am Lacey Police Detective Eric Lever on behalf of Crime Stoppers of the South Sound.
The theft of catalytic converters from vehicles has been growing rapidly in the South Sound. Although some of the thieves have been apprehended the crimes have not gone down. Whenever possible keep your vehicles in a secure garage or at least in a well-lit area. If you hear a buzzing or sawing sound from where vehicles are, it’s possible someone is sawing off the converter from a vehicle. Call 911 if you suspect this is going on. If you see it in progress, stay away but try to take notice of any involved vehicles and suspects. We need to all work together to cut down this growing crime.
If you have any information about any crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. That’s 1-800-222-8477. You can also download the P3 app to submit your tip from any smartphone. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 and remember, you never have to leave your name.
